JSF BERLIN: Screening: BREACHER

The Julia Stoschek Foundation is pleased to present the premiere of BREACHER, an experimental short film by Joseph Kadow and Chima Okerenkwo, starring MINTTU. BREACHER explores the complex dynamics of power, control, and identity through a shifting interplay of enclosed black-box environments, open landscapes, and detached frames of observation. Within this, the human body becomes a site of performative negotiation – caught between containment and exposure, between gesture and restraint.

Identity in BREACHER manifests not as fixed or stable, but as a fragile, fluctuating construct shaped by internal tensions and external expectations. This instability is exemplified by Nicole Walker’s costumes; every movement, pose, and material surface – whether strained, held, or collapsing – serves to expose the fluidity and transience of the categories we inhabit and the roles we perform.

With an unsettling sound composed by Lyra Pramuk, drawing on acoustic voice performances by Matto Zoppi, BREACHER constructs an atmosphere charged with tension, absurdity, and existential unease. The film was created in collaboration with Dominique Mantilla and a collective of artists and filmmakers working at the intersection of experimental cinema, fashion & political inquiry. Supported by Kunsthalle Baden-Baden and Medienboard Berlin, the film marks the first production by the production company SYNERGIE.

The film will be introduced with performances by MINTTU and Matto Zoppi.
